Past Students

The Beau-Rock Ballet School has had many students go on to become well respected performers, choreographers and presenters in the entertainment industry. Here are just a few of the success stories we are proud to have helped foster over the last 60 years! We remain very proud of of these students and wish them every success in their chosen fields!

Kate has been a student and teacher of the Beau-Rock Ballet School for almost 30 years. Starting in 1987, Kate quickly discovered a love and passion for dance and realised she had found her true calling. Since 'leaving' Beau-Rock, Kate has trained and performed around the world – from The Victorian College of the Arts, to London-based contemporary dance company, Union Dance, as well as Undercurrent Dance in Melbourne and South Korea. Kate is also a qualified Pilates instructor and has been a teacher of Funk-Hip-Hop, Jazz and Contemporary, in many leading Melbourne schools, for more than 15 years.

Kate currently resides in Berlin where she is involved with a new company aiming to combine dance and art in a format never before seen. Look out for updates on this exciting new venture soon!

Samantha started dancing with the Beau-Rock Ballet School at the age of 4. She showed great promise from this early age and was the recipient of many awards and scholarships at competitions and eisteddfods. Sam continued her training at the Australian Conservatoire of Ballet under the guidance of Christine Walsh.

As she finished her training, Sam sent out her audition video and the San Francisco Ballet responded with the offer of a one year traineeship.
She then continued on to Houston, Texas, where Stanton Welch had been artistic director since 2003. She was offered a corps de ballet contract, and danced with Houston Ballet for six years.

In 2012 Sam auditioned for, and was offered a contract with, the Norwegian National Ballet. Besides classics like Swan Lake, Sleeping Beauty and The Nutcracker the company's repertoire covers works by international masters like Jiří Kylian, Nacho Duato and Sol León and Paul Lightfoot. One of Sam’s most recent roles with the Norwegian National Ballet was to dance Myrtha in Giselle. Every little ballerina’s dream come true! We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you Sammie!

In 2021, Sam was promoted to Principal Dancer with the NNB - an outstanding achievement!

Sam started as a Jazz student with Miss Nicole in 2003. He fell in love with dance and commenced further classes in Classical, Tap and eventually Contemporary. During his time at Beau-Rock, Sam began assistant teaching for pre-primary ballet classes and tap classes, eventually taking on his own senior tap classes and choreographing items for eisteddfods and concerts.

Initially leaving Beau-Rock to study a Bachelor of Arts in Dance at WAAPA, Sam was set back with a major knee injury forcing him to cancel his studies in dance. Now relocated to NSW, Sam has had various jobs within the dance industry including a short stint teaching Ballroom & Latin at Arthur Murray Studios in Parramatta before realizing that it wasn't exactly suited to him. Sam has also taught casual Tap and Jazz classes for N.R.G. Dance & Cheer in Wollongong.

Cementing his love for Dance and Musical Theatre, Sam has performed in various music theatre productions for local community theatre companies in the Sutherland Shire and St George areas of NSW. In 2012, Sam made his musical theatre choreography debut as choreographer for "Little Shop of Horrors" with Shire Music Theatre Inc. (SMT) This lead to choreographing productions of "The Wizard of Oz" with Engadine Musical Society and "The Addams Family" again with SMT.

Georgia always had a talent for performance and acting while she was with the Beau-Rock Ballet School so it is no surprise that she has gone on to become a very successful media personality! Georgia is most well known for being the News Presenter and Reporter for WIN News Tasmania, presenting the state-wide news bulletin Monday to Friday and also reporting on all kinds of issues from crime and politics to arts and even sport!

Georgia hasn't given up performing on the stage either. She first left Beau-Rock to take up a position at Club Med in Lindeman Island and Malaysia where she performed in nightly shows for 18 months including dangling gracefully from a trapeze! She has also found the stage in Tasmania, performing in 6 musicals in 3 years. She has taken on roles as featured dancer in Grease, Chicago and Rock of Ages, and even pulled back on the pointe shoes for the dance corps of Phantom of the Opera!

In 2016 Georgia was cast as the Bachelorette on Channel 10's reality show of the same name. We loved watching you on your journey to find love!

Alanah danced with the Beau-Rock Ballet School for 10 years and was always an inspiring student to watch on stage. Clearly a 'natural' entertainer, her performance qualities and theatrical ability were often admired by teachers and students alike.

It is not surprising to us that Alanah is now taking her craft to the next level as a director. She created her theatre company 'Rotten Honey' at just 22 years old, had a sold out success at Melbourne Fringe and is currently touring to Adelaide Fringe in 2017. Alanah has now directed eight works, with her play “It’s on Me” winning best short play at Kyneton Festival and her direction of Michael Gow’s “Away” receiving three lyrebird award nominations. Alanah has completed a B.A at Monash University, majoring in creative writing and an internship as a performing arts writer for The Creative Issue.

Alanah was granted one of only seven places at NIDA for Masters of Directing in 2017 where she will be traveling around Australia and Berlin to further her studies. An amazing start to what promises to be an unbelievable career! We can't wait to see what happens next for you Alanah!

Emily's passion for dance was evident right from the beginning and her hard work and dedication have paid off! After leaving Beau-Rock at the end of 2012, Emily completed the full-time Performing Arts course at Patrick Studios (2013-2014). Since completing the course she has worked professionally at Crown Casino and for various artists including Jessica Mauboy and Andrew De Silva. Emily has also been involved in cheerleading for the NBL team Melbourne United and at the PDC World Darts Championship in London.

Emily currently resides in London where she continues her dance training and is also teaching junior ballet. We wish you further success with your career Emily, keep us posted!

Shona was a student with the Beau-Rock Ballet School for 12 years and in that time grew to be a highly accomplished performer. Excelling in contemporary and lyrical styles, her strength and agility always amazed both younger and older students alike. She was very successful at competitions and eisteddfods and in 2016 began her first year of full time dance at Kellly Aykers.

Shona's first year of full time dance was filled with highlights; being chosen as a soloist by several professional choreographers, being awarded a full scholarship to continue full time training for 2017, top agents fighting to represent her and her first paid job as a dancer! We are so proud of you Shona and we truly believe you will 'make it' in the dance world!

Jane was one of our first, highly successful competition students, paving the way for the many success stories to follow. An accomplished classical, jazz and contemporary dancer, Jane's impressive technical and theatrical abilities were evident from a very young age. Jane went on to study Meteorology at University and after many years working with regional networks, she is currently presenting the nightly weather report on Channel 7. We can't wait to see what the future holds for you Janie!
